Initially, Vignesh Shivan was slated to direct Ajith’s 62nd film, with production planned to commence after Ajith completed Thunivu (2023). However, in January 2023, Vignesh was replaced by Magizh Thirumeni due to creative differences. The production house made the switch official on May 1, 2023, coinciding with Ajith’s birthday.
Magizh Thirumeni impressed Ajith with a compelling script during a meeting in London, which led to his appointment as the director. The film, officially titled Vidaamuyarchi, was announced alongside the creative team, including Anirudh Ravichander for music, Om Prakash for cinematography, and N. B. Srikanth for editing. Tragically, the film’s art director, Milan, passed away during preliminary shooting, leaving a somber note on the project’s commencement.

Filming progressed with Ajith performing high-octane car action sequences without a stunt double, showcasing his dedication to authenticity.
The team faced several logistical challenges, including a temporary halt due to undisputed war and border issues in Azerbaijan. Despite these setbacks, the crew’s perseverance saw them return to Azerbaijan to complete the final schedule, with significant sequences involving Ajith, Trisha, and Arjun. The principal photography wrapped up by mid-August 2024.

Anirudh Ravichander, collaborating with Ajith for the third time, is the maestro behind the film’s music and background score.
